Wellness and Prevention Services hosts several mental well-being events throughout the semester.

Meditation Classes

Lower your stress, get better sleep, increase your focus and become less self-judgmental with mindfulness and meditation skills taught by certified instructors. 

Suicide Prevention Training

Students will learn the following concerning suicide prevention:

  • Warning signs for suicide
  • How to identify someone that needs help
  • What to say to someone who is In need of help
  • How to refer someone who is experiencing suicidal thoughts to professional mental health resources

Discover the meditative labyrinths on campus—spaces designed for reflection, stress relief, and personal growth. Learn about their history at Appalachian and how you can visit or reserve a labyrinth for your group, class, or event. 

Happy Light

Studies indicate that light therapy may have positive effects on individuals experiencing depression. This therapy can help improve problems related to mood, sleeping habits, focus, and appetite. To support students who are struggling with these issues, we offer a Happy Light that can be borrowed during office hours.
