Rachel Peterson

Rachel (she/her) was born in Winston-Salem, but has family in the Ashe County area and definitely considers herself a mountain woman. She is excited to be a clinical intern for the Wellness and Prevention Services, completing training hours for her masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis on Expressive Arts Therapy. She studied Philosophy and Women’s, Gender, Sexuality Studies at Appalachian State in undergrad. Professionally, she’s been in the education realm as a kindergarten teacher, 8th grade math teacher, and adjunct professor for yoga. Rachel would identify as a mover; she’s been teaching yoga for a decade and resonates with the world of somatics. In her free time, you might see her dancing across campus listening to R&B or EDM, creating art, picnicking with friends by the river, or hiking in the woods.
