Sex Positive Week
The purpose of Sex Positive Week is to raise awareness about positive sexual experiences and to promote healthy relationships at Appalachian State University. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss safer sex practices and relationship interactions along with on and off campus resources. Sex Positive Week Partners include: AIDS Leadership Foothill Alliance (ALFA), Appalachian Popular Programming Society, Black Student Association (BSA), Henderson-Springs LGBT Center, ONE Condoms, Planned Parenthood Generation Action, and Wellness Educators for Change, Advocacy and student Needs (WE CAN). Come hangout and compete for prizes! Trivia rounds will include music, visual, and 3 mystery rounds. Bring a team or join a team upon arrival. Teams are limited to 8 people.

Project Condom Season #2 (RSVP Here)
Sponsored by Global Protection and ONE Condoms, Project Condom is a merge between art and fashion while promoting safer sex behaviors for college-aged students. Based on the tv show Project Runway, teams of students will have the opportunity to create and showcase garments made entirely of condoms!

Free HIV Testing (RSVP Here)
During Sex Positive Week, the AIDS Leadership Foothills-Area Alliance (ALFA), the Black Student Association (BSA), the Henderson Springs LGBT Center, the Wellness Educators for Change, Advocacy, and student Needs (WE CAN), and Wellness and Prevention Services will host the bi-annual HIV Testing Day. More than 1.2 million people in the US are living with HIV, and 1 in 8 of them don't know it. Over the last decade, the annual number of new HIV diagnoses declined 19% thanks to free testing sites and increased awareness. Testing is FREE, EASY, and FAST! Participants will receive a free t-shirt (will supplies last). This event is open to all students, faculty, and staff.

Sex(ED) The Movie (RSVP Here)
How did you learn about sex? Wellness and Prevention Services will host a showing and discussion of Sex (ED) The Movie. Produced and directed by Brenda Goodman, this film shows the evolution sex education in the US from the early 1900s to the present. A mix of humor and shock, Sex (ED) The Movie reveals how sex education affects identity, relationships, and intimacy within our culture. Viewing of the film will be followed with a brief discussion. Extra Credit Slips will be provided at the event!
