Stop Smoking and Dipping Group

                   Don't stop smoking or dipping alone!

 This group is a FREE 6 week class that will help you to stop smoking or dipping. Each week we will meet to walk you through the process, give you tools, support and education. You will go through the process with others as well as learn from each other. We will provide a free month of nicotine replacements for those who complete the entire 6 weeks (It will not be given till week 2 on Quit Day, must attend all sessions, and will be given in weekly doses no matter what)

WHAT: The Stop Smoking or Dipping group is a FREE 6 week class that will help you to stop smoking/dipping.

How it Works:

Orientation

  • We get introduce
  • We discussed some barriers to quiting and concerns with quitting. 
  • The program can work and you will learn to substitute healthy new lifestyle alternatives for your old smoking habit. 
  • Rules of the group: attend all sessions, be open minded to what the program suggests, and give/recieve support!



Here is the schedule for the 6 sessions:

Session 1) On the Road to Freedom
                      - Relaxation Techniques
                      - Stress management
                      - Building motivation & confidence
                      - Studying your habit


Session 2) Wanting to Quit
                      - Understanding your habit
                      - Making a plan & cleaning your environment
                      - Coping with Urges
                      - Nicotine replacements


Session 3) Quit Day
                      - Give your tools to get past the 1st 2 days


Session 4) Winning Strategies (2 DAYS AFTER QUIT DAY WE WILL MEET)
                      - Talk about symptoms, stress, fears
                      - Recovery and support


Session 5) The New You
                      - Long term strategies
                      - Weight control
                      - social Situations and stress management


Session 6) Staying Off and CELEBRATION!!
                      - New non-smoker image
                      - Fitness and Exercise
                      - Assertive communication and discuss maintenance
