General Health and Wellness Programs
Influenza is a respiratory illness that infects the nose, throat, and lungs which can result in missed exams, major projects, and poor grades. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), flu symptoms can last 1-2 weeks at a time. The flu is highly contagious and poses a true threat to college students as they live in close proximity to one another in residence halls and apartments. Flu season typically lasts from October to May with an influx of cases during the colder months. The best way to prevent the flu is to get vaccinated.
The Quadrivalent Vaccine is available in Student Health Services for $20. Vaccines are given on a walk-in basis (no appointment necessary) from 8:00am-11:30am and 12:30pm-3:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. For additional questions, call Student Health Services at 828-263-3100.
